I can only speak for the Marines. Security forces is a good jump, they consist of FAST teams and RTT or recapture tactics teams. I've worked with a few of them in my infantry days. The school is pretty difficult from what i've heard. I believe it's at the Naval Weapons Station in Virginia. Swimming is required during their school I do know.

I can't speak for the Army or Air Force. Maybe sloan55 or ABUTuxedo can help you out with that.

Infantry in the Marines is pretty extreme. The school of infantry is a step up from boot camp. Prepare for lots of running, and lots of shooting during training. Deployments are brutal, count count how many times I kicked open a door and heard bang bang, while hearing bang bang from several other directions. Probably close to a thousand times

The Army's infantry (11B) is decent. It's not as intense as the Marines 0311 but it will get you some skills you need. If i were to join the Army as infantry (which I would have never had done) I would do 101st or 82nd.

Go USAF Security Forces if you want to learn a lot of the same skills and then have skills translate well in the civilian sector. The USAF trains their cops better than other branches because they fill more roles than just LE. There are a lot of opportunities like CATM, K9, Phoenix-Raven, and Dagger. The skills you learn and the opportunities you can find in the AF could land you federal jobs and even Secret Service with the right degrees and pathways you take in the career field.

So wait what is the difference in training and the job I could land between the Marines and air force security forces?

I don't know what the marine MP's do, but in the Air Force, you'll learn how to use a lot of different weapon systems (M9, M4, 240B, M249, M203, etc.), you'll learn some ground combat skills, hand to hand combatives, how to respond to an active shooter, and other LE type stuff. I can't imagine you learn as much in the Marine security Forces because Marines have infantry where the Air Force does not, so we kinda have to fill that role when we are deployed.

If you want to get in Security with the Marines, I'd say you will have a lot more training to do as it is more complex. The reason I say that is because you will be providing security ashore and afloat, as well as be in a FAST team. The only time i've ever worked with them was at Mayport Naval Station as they were doing training exercises with vessels. As far as the weapons, you train with M16's, 249 SAWS in bootcamp. Not sure how it is now, but back in 2005 that's how it was. Also keep in mind the Army has their own Security Force thing which I am not too familiar with. If you want Infantry then you have to go to the School of Infantry after bootcamo/BMT which teaches you many types of tactics (breaching, flanking, stacking, 1 left 1 right, column, MOUT, convoy formations etc.)
